Arts and Crafts - Working with children in the evenings on special arts and crafts projects that you design
Childcare - Working two hour slots from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on weekdays, while moms are in workshops or in house appointments
Events  - Coordinating special events for holidays, house celebrations. These can be formal such as cooking class graduations or informal such as summer cook outs
Exercise - Assisting small groups to use exercise equipment and videos
Meal Service - Preparing and serving meals for residents
Playground - Playing with young children in outdoor play activities, supervising playground activities
Recreation -  Playing with children in recreational activities that you coordinate, afternoons, evenings and/or weekends. Outdoor activities preferred.
Sewing - Teaching use of sewing machines for minor clothing repair and simple household items such as pillows, curtains from sheets, patchwork quilts
Story Hour - Providing regular story hour and reading-aloud activities
Tutoring I - Working with pre-school and kindergarten children. We have computerized learning tools. You can also conduct simple science projects including summer time gardening.
Tutoring II - Tutoring school-age children, including use of computerized learning tools, reinforcing school work, enrichment activities, chaperoning field trips with parents/residents, one-to-one work and in small groups
Tutoring III - One-to-one tutoring with teens, including computer instruction
Workshops - Facilitating formal workshops highlighting specific life skills - setting up a bank account, dealing with utility companies, producing clean laundry, how to store…

Program Support Activities

Childcare -  Maintaining child care space – straightening up, bleaching toys, keeping track of supplies
Computers -  Setting up computer stations, monitor computers regularly to correct problems 
Librarian - Collecting children’s video and audio tape library, previewing and suggesting use, maintaining library

Shelter Support Activities

Building - Maintaining the building, painting, raking leaves
Clerical - Assisting with mailings, filing, reception and other clerical work
Data Entry - Entering donor and volunteer information into database
Donations - Sorting donations and evaluating their utility
Newsletter - Working with staff to write and lay-out newsletter
Photography - Taking photographs at special events
